I'm a gamer. Not a hardcore gamer - I used to be one - but I think I can say that I know video games pretty well.
I was 11 when I discovered this world with my SEGA Master System, and I've never lost my interest for this medium until now. I'm still amazed by the imagination and the creativity of the guys working in this industry. This culture is part of my own, as well as Victor Hugo and Jacques Brel.
Actually, I introduced my girlfriend to this virtual world... with the help of HALO.
It was one of these mutual enrichments that happen within a couple. I brought video games, mangas, Star Trek, etc , while she shared with me her love for foreign languages, baroque music, and many other things.
I've never heard her complaining about misogyny in video games. Not once.
Of course, she doesn't identify with Master Chief, but neither do I.
With time, she became a pretty good Spartan.
